About Us

The Essex Security and Fire Protection Association was established in 1997. The association was formed by an enthusiastic core of hard working members of Essex Police and Fire Authority, fire and security companies, individuals and organisations in Essex. ESFPA provides an association dedicated to supporting its members and providing a local database of technical support, firms and individuals.

Paul Shewbridge first met John Allenby in 1996 when he was Secretary of the Essex Fire Protection Association (EFPA). At his instigation we discussed the possibility of the two Associations merging and this was eventually agreed and in 1997 the Essex Security and Fire Protection was formed (ESFPA). Paul was elected the First Chairman of the new Association at the inaugural meeting and held this position for 5 years. Both John and Paul have put a lot of hard work and dedication into the associations over the years to make it a success that it now has become.
